She also is survived by her 5 grandchildren Teresa Ponte, Amy Ponte, Brandy Barngrover, Brandon Barngrover and Christopher Barngrover. She is survived by her children Karen (Clark) Absher of Toledo, OR Robert Gary (Eden) Barngrover of Topeka, KS and Kerwin (Aon) Barngrover of Palmetto ,FL. Her surviving siblings are her sister Carolyn Ralph and brother Kenneth Bingham of Topeka. She belonged to various church groups and the Good Fellowship Sunday School Class. She then transferred to First Christian Church in 1990. She was a member of Central Park Christian Church for 35 years. Evelyn was also a long-time member and former officer of the Southwestern Bell Telephone Pioneers. She then worked for Southwestern Bell Telephone Company in Topeka for 40 years. Her first employer was Sears Roebuck & Co for four years. They were married 53 years until his passing in September 1999. The family moved to Topeka when Evelyn was four and she attended schools in Topeka. Evelyn passed away Februin Topeka, Kansas at Legend at Capitol Ridge. She loved caring for her family, and her favorite pastime was snuggling grandbabies. Gerrie was a woman of strong faith, committed prayer warrior and most importantly, taught her children to follow Jesus. She was a charter member of the Christian Free Lutheran Church in Wheatland, where she was actively involved. Gerrie was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother. Following his military service, the couple resided in rural Calamus, where they raised their 5 children. Gerrie married her high school sweetheart, Robert Herman “Bob” Jacobi, on March 19, 1950, at Ellington Air Force Base in Houston, Texas. She graduated in 1948 from Calamus High School, and attended nursing school in Moline, Illinois. Geraldine Elaine Jacobi was born on May 26, 1930, to Henry and Katherine (Gohlmann) Stueland of rural Calamus, Iowa. Gerrie Jacobi, 92, of Wheatland, formerly of Calamus, Iowa, passed away Friday, February 17, 2023, with family by her side, at Wheatland Manor.
